this album is the creative culmination of the most challenging period of my life thus far. it is the result of a consuming passion for music and experience.

it is about the experiences i've had, the people i've met, the things i've done, joy and pain. most importantly, it's about learning. the kind that comes when you repeatedly believe you've seen through an illusion and experienced your first real bit of power only to find yourself deeper in that next illusion than you were in the first. it's about the humility that comes inevitably after that only to be replaced by pride that you can be so humble and so the process begins anew. it's about action and theory. about late nights alone. making an offering, accepting grace and forgiving yourself and others. it's about ambiguity and your heart telling you more that your eyes ever can. it's about daily devotion to meaningful things.

i may end up pressing a limited number of cds. for now it's only available as a free download. please enjoy it and share it with people. i'd love to hear your comments. by the way, the fretless bass on the first cut is programmed. maybe on the next album...

if it weren't for certain of my my er... obligations, i would still be in texas devoting most of my energies to this band. although, if it weren't for my obligations, i would have never moved to texas. settled. this is truly the most gifted and enjoyable group of musicians i've ever been in a working band with. i hold each of these guys in the highest regard and absolutely delight in the thoughts of joining them again in the next few years.

the band is still working in the san antonio | austin area and our second studio album is due out spring of 2007. keep an eye out.

one small renaissance is available at tower records online, cd baby and can be ordered directly from jake owen.

jeff eliassen is a truly gifted musician, artist, composer, teacher, volunteer, big brother, man of god, funny guy, eccentric, intelligent biped living in denver colorado. he has been one of my greatest friends and musical inspirations over the years. you can download some other brown+eliassen music at the bottom of this page.
